Pick the right level for your team
Because volleyball is playable in a wide range of skill and intensity levels, our leagues and tournaments are organized by divisions. Be realistic in your assessment of the skill and intensity level of your team. If you are uncertain, please pick the lower level. We may move any team to more appropriate division, up or down, to maintain the competitive balance.
Elite Level 4’s & 6’s – This is the highest level of play. Players at this level will have a very strong all around skill set and play the game with strong technique, a full range of attack options and a strong commitment to defense and counter attack with a low frequency of free balls given. Most of the players will have played for competitive high school teams and many will have played in college or university.
Competitive Level 4’s & 6’s –The players at this level are well skilled and will have solid fundamentals. The focus is on a high percentage of full attacks with a moderate to low frequency of free balls. Most players at this level will have played in high school.
Advanced Level 4’s & 6’s – (This level is often referred to as Intermediate Plus) The players at this level have good skills and will have reasonably good fundamentals. The focus is on a good percentage of full attacks with a moderate frequency of free balls. Many of the players at this level will have played in high school and/or have played the sport for several years.
Intermediate 6’s – The intermediate level is for players who are relatively new to the game and are now seeking slightly more competitive playing opportunities. Participants will have a reasonable knowledge of the rules and are making the effort to consistently play a three contact game but are not, yet, really serious competitors.
Recreational 6’s – This level is for players who are new to the game, who want to learn to play, meet new people and have fun playing the sport. Most rallies focus on getting the ball over the net and keeping it in play. There is a low frequency of 3 contacts per side. Most players at this level have not played the sport for very long or if at all.
